Love in a Box Feb 2018

This was a ‘make the difference day’. The children brought into school tins and other food stuff to be given to the food banks.

Reverse Advent Calendar Nov/Dec 2017

We asked for families to donate something for our ‘Reverse advent calendar’ box which we then donated to ‘People for People’ of Stevenage. This helped those most in need over the Christmas period, making an incredible difference to many who are struggling. This linked closely with our December value of generosity as it was a great way to show our children that Christmas is also about giving.

Kenny Arnold, the founder of ‘People for People’, came into the school to talk to our children about helping others who are less fortunate than ourselves. As you can see from the photos families gave generously, thank you.

Macmillan – Sept 2017

I would like to thank everyone for their cake donations, purchases and help with our Macmillan Coffee Morning last week. We cannot thank you enough!  What a brilliant effort by all.

The MacMillan Coffee Morning was a huge success but it is only made possible by the Broom Barns community working together. Amazingly we beat last year’s total !  It is with thanks to everyone that donated, attended and helped that we raised a massive £920.00.

Since 2011 we have raised a fantastic £4049 !

NSPCC / Childline – May 2017

Broom Barns children raised £170.00 on our ‘Wear Green Day’ for the NSPCC.  Staff from the NSPCC visited the school and delivered age appropriate assemblies and workshops.

Mrs Phillips at Muddy Mayhem – March 2017

Mrs Phillips, Deputy Headteacher at Broom Barns, took part in ‘Muddy Mayhem’ last week with over 800 other participants. The muddy obstacle race took place at Knebworth House to raise money for the Garden House Hospice.

Well done Mrs Phillips for finishing the race in style and raising so much money – over £3000 with her friends !

Remembrance 2016

Our children have been learning about WWII and had a visit from Mr Brandon, who was evacuated during the war.  The children listening attentively to his experiences and were so inspired they made poppies to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.  The Reception children made the 3 ‘Least we forget’ bouquets of poppies for the front of the school and every child made a poppy to decorate the fences into our own field of poppies.

Every year we sell poppies and poppy items on behalf of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and would like to thank everyone for supporting us.  In 2015 we raised £228.80 well done everyone.

Macmillan 2016

We would like to take this opportunity to convey our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to and attended our charity coffee morning.  Your contribution helped us to raise over £761 for Macmillan this year.

The event was attended and enjoyed by well over 100 people including  Councillor John Lloyd and ‘Muggy’.  Events like this are only successful due to the kind donations of cakes, prizes and time. We couldn’t have pulled this off without your support and everyone who made a donation to this fantastic cause.

So once again thank you to everyone who came along for a cup of coffee.
